This is exactly what Tom Schreiter has taught me – and I must say that I agree with him.

When we offer our network marketing business to others, we basically offer them two things: more time and more money.

… And who does NOT want that?

Yet we experience, from time to time, that a person says “no thanks” to our otherwise well-meant offer, to become part of our network marketing business.

What could cause this to happen?

The cause is most likely to be found in ourselves and the way, in which we presented our business opportunity. The person who said no, might have been confused and did probably not understand EXACTLY what it was we tried to explain, or may not believe that he or she can learn to succeed in our business based on what WE said.

Is it their fault?

Of course not. Nine times out of ten, it happens because we failed to explain the concept short enough and simple enough. Not only did we miss OUR chance to sponsor a new candidate – but more so, we also missed THEIR chance to enjoy what our network marketing business could have done for them.

It’s a shame … So what can we do to prevent this from happening again?

There is exactly TWO things we can do. The first is:

Make your presentation SHORT

The shorter our presentation is, the smaller the risk is of creating confusion in the mind of the person who listens. We don’t even have to be concerned of making it too short. The person will ask questions if he or she is interested… guaranteed!

When you keep it short, you certainly increase the chance, for that person to think: “It sounds easy, I can do that too!”

… And that’s exactly what we want them to think, isn’t it?

Use only simple terms that is easy to understand

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of using “smart” and hyper-modern expressions when we make our presentation. Expressions that we learned either through the product we sell, or through the network marketing company we work with. It makes us look either clever or “smart” which can be very nice sometimes . Unfortunately it is not beneficial to our business – We gain nothing by creating a divide between ourselves and those for whom we make the presentation.

It only gives our possible candidate a reason to think: “He is very clever, I can never learn to do that…” or “What a smart-guy I don’t want to associate or work with him…”

A good rule of thumb is: Use only expressions a 10-year-old would understand.

Not because I want to imply that our new candidate thinks like a 10-year-old. No, I only recommend this rule because it makes it easier for us to find a simple language which is easy to understand.

…and why not use such a simple language?

What benefit could we possible get from building our presentation on advanced and “smart” expressions which our candidate sometimes might not even understand?

None, do we?

Let me give a few examples of what I mean:

“…The company offers a multi-differential-bonus on all non-qualified-overflow-break away-legs of the third generation…”

Could a 10-year-old understand that? Probably not…

Instead we could simplify it to something like this:

“…the more you work, the more you get in bonus …”

At a later start-up training or something of that sort, we can explain exactly what the bonus is called and how it works. Right now we don’t even know if he or she wants to start up. So let us save our breath…

Another example could be:

“… the product contains a high<sup>++</sup>gene-complex-Q<sup>11</sup>-patented-h<sup>2</sup>o-extra<sup>445</sup> vitamin-alpha infusion-system…”

It could possibly be shortened to something like this:

“…The product contains some natural ingredients that have proven to be very good for the body…”

Remember that the confused mind always says NO

So try to go through your presentation to see if there are some elements that 1. can be shortened and 2. can be explained more simple.

By doing exactly those two things, there will probably be further between the “No Thank You’s”…

This is what Bob Burg and John David Mann tells in their book The Go-Giver. Very interesting statement, perhaps a little abstract, but if you read the book The Go-Giver, you will clearly understand how much YOU get when you first learn to give.

In our work with network marketing, we basically have two tasks. The first one is all the actual work to physically expand our organization – that is the practical part. The second part is to develop and continually improve ourselves and our skills.

By focusing on both these areas, we create the best conditions for success within our Network Marketing business.

This book sets in exactly where we typically most need it: by helping us mentally, to get the most beneficial approach to our work with network marketing. With the right mental approach, the practical part becomes so much easier and our results so much better.

If you haven’t already read the book, then I recommend you promptly to do so. Here is a brief description:

The Go-Giver is a inspiring story about receiving, when you give.

The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. And so one day, desperate to land a key sale at the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman.

Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of successful “go-givers”: a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial advisor, a real estate broker and “The Connector,” who brought them all together. Pindar’s friends share with Joe the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and teach him how to open himself up to the power of giving.

Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving – putting others’ interests first and continually adding value to their lives – ultimately leads to unexpected returns.

Imparted with wit and grace, The Go-Giver is a heartwarming and inspiring tale that brings new relevance to the old proverb “give and you shall receive.”

Enjoy the reading and let me know what you think…

Becoming successful in network marketing is just like becoming successful in any other business: it is essential that we have the right tools, if we want to achieve the best results… or is it?

If you think tools and network marketing has as much in common, as pizza and lollipops, then take a look at what kind of “tools” I’m actually talking about. But let me start by clarifying that my answer is a resounding YES! It is very essential that we have the right tools, in order for us to create a true and sustainable success in network marketing.

It’s basically all about personal tools or skills if you will.

It can be a specific technique we use when we want to contact other people, in both a professional and comfortable manner. It can also be some prefabricated tools, such as CDs or DVDs which explains our desired message FOR us. It can be short, precise and easy-to-understand answers to common questions. It may be a range of effective and useful questions which we can use when talking with potential candidates, so that we learn exactly how our business can help them.

Explained in short: the tools not only makes us appear serious and well prepared, it actually makes us BE serious and well prepared. It is the tools and the skills that ensures us that we rarely end up in situations for which we are not prepared. Try to ask yourself this: “when do you give the best impression… is it when you have to make up the answers right in the middle of a conversation, or is it when you already have short, proffesionel and well prepared answers ready for you to use on demand…?”

You can find effective tools and learn the skills by going to the menu “Tips” .. enjoy
